Household Hazardous Waste Round-Up 5/1/2015
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM - Drop off paint, pesticides, cleaners, motor oil and other hazardous household wastes at the Strongsville Service Center, 16099 Foltz Pkwy. The round-up runs April 27-May2; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. For a full list of items accepted, see the home page or Service/Recycling page.

Memory Screening at the Library 5/7/2015
9:00 AM - 11:00 AM - It's normal to forget a name, but not to keep forgetting days of the week or when to take medicine. Southwest General community nurses will be at the Strongsville Library for a free memory screening to determine whether you should consider seeing a doctor. 'Creative Conductivity' at the Library 5/11/2015
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM - For teens 11-18 at the Strongsville Library. In this hands-on workshop on electricity, teens will experiment with a variety of conductive materials as they learn how to complete a circuit. Each will create a piece of art that incorporates conductive materials, a resistor and an LED. Registration is required at (440) 238-5530 or cuyahogalibrary.org.

Be Part of Strongsville Youth Commission 5/13/2015
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM - Incoming sophomores, juniors and seniors who live in Strongsville are invited to an informational meeting to learn about the Strongsville Youth Commission. Anyone interested in applying for the commission can attend the meeting at the Ehrnfelt Rec Center (Senior Meeting Room). If you can't attend, you can pick up an application starting May 14 at the front desk. Deadline to submit is June 8.

Baked Chicken and Biscuit Dinner 5/15/2015
4:30 PM - 6:30 PM - Strongsville United Methodist Church located at 13500 Roayalton Rd. in Strongsville will hold a BAKED CHICKEN AND BISCUIT DINNER to raise monies for their many missions. Family Art and Chalk Walk 5/16/2015
9:00 AM - 2:00 PM - Arts in Strongsville will host its fifth annual Family Art and Chalk Walk, sponsored by FIAT of Strongsville, on May 16 at the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center, 18100 Royalton Road. NOTE: The event has moved indoors due to the threat of thunderstorms. Children 5-18 are invited to draw a picture for judging. Those 18 and older can participate in the artist tent. The event is free and open to everyone. Register at artsinstrongsville.org or pick up a registration form at the Strongsville Spirit Shop at the Rec Center. If space is available, there will be walk-up registration for chalkers the day of the event.

Collection for Habitat for Humanity 5/16/2015
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Habitat for Humanity is seeking donations of construction and rehab materials to help improve housing in our area. The city will hold a drive from 9 a.m. to noon at the Service Center, 16099 Foltz Pkwy, on May 16. Needed are sinks, vanities, kitchen counters, electrical/plumbing supplies, furniture, refrigerators, washers and dryers, microwaves, doors, freezers, air conditioners, countertops, lumber, tools and gardening tools and supplies.

Mom & Kids Tech Challenge at the Llibrary 5/16/2015
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM - The Strongsville Library hosts this fun challenge for moms and their kids 8-12. Learn to build an online story and publish it on a website. You'll learn how to build content, create a digital graphic and upload photos from your phone, so you can create online memories for your family to enjoy. Space is limited. Monday Afternoon Book Discussion 5/18/2015
2:30 PM - 4:00 PM - Meets the fourth Monday of the month at the Strongsville Library, but the date is change this month because of Memorial Day. New members are welcome. This month's book is "Five Days at Memorial." Copies are available for check-out at the circulation desk.

Chamber to Award Scholarships, Honor Students Entering Military 5/19/2015
11:30 AM - 1:00 PM - The Strongsville Chamber of commerce will award scholarships to Strongsville High School students and also acknowledge students who will be entering the military at its May Business Luncheon, set for May 19 at the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center.
The scholarships are funded by proceeds from the annual Holiday Dance. This year marks the 48th consecutive year that the Chamber has awarded scholarships. The Chamber donates more scholarships, with a higher dollar value, than any other local organization in Strongsville.

Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony 5/25/2015
11:00 AM - 12:30 PM - The annual Memorial Day parade, sponsored by VFW Post 3345, steps off at 11 a.m. from St. Joseph Church and heads south on Pearl to Zverina Drive. It will end at the Freedom Trail gazebo with a short ceremony, including remarks by Mayor Tom Perciak.
