Chamber of Commerce Luncheon will Honor Scholarship Winners!! 5/15/2012
11:30 AM - 1:30 PM - The Strongsville Chamber of Commerce will award nineteen scholarships to Strongsville students at their May Monthly Business Luncheon. The luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, May 15, 11:30 a.m., at Michaud's Towne N' Country.

The scholarships are funded by the proceeds from the annual Holiday Dance held each December and sponsored by the Chamber. This year marks the 46th consecutive year that the Chamber has awarded scholarships to deserving seniors. The Chamber donates more scholarships, with a higher dollar value, than any other local organization in Strongsville.

We are pleased to welcome Mr. David Jager as our guest speaker for the luncheon. Mr. Jager retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland as a vice president after thirty nine years of service. He is also a past president of the Strongsville Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Jager served as a sergeant in the United States Army and spent thirteen months in Vietnam as an infantry soldier. He holds a bachelor's degree and an executive MBA degree from Baldwin Wallace.

Cost will be $20 per person, payable at the door, in advance by calling the office, or through the website registration. Please remember, you must cancel your reservation 24 hours in advance or you will be responsible for the fee.


Business Network Breakfast 5/17/2012
7:00 AM - 9:00 AM - The City of Strongsville is proud to host world renown wellness specialist Dr. Michael Rozen, at the Business Network Breakfast in the Walter F. Ehrnfelt Recreation Center. Dr. Rozen is the Chair of the Wellness Institute at the Cleveland Clinic. Attendence is free thanks to the Generous support of Medical Mutual of Ohio.

Sidewalk art contest for kids 5-18. Business sponsored artwork by amateur & professional artists. Judging starts at 2pm. Music, Dance Entertainment, and Martial Arts Demonstrations. Underground Railroad in Ohio 5/22/2012
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM - Dr. Deborah Abbott will present a program on the Underground Railroad in Ohio. This program launches the Strongsville Historical Society's commemoration of the Civil War. The meeting will be held in the Old Town Hall. Call 440-572-0057 for futher details.

FROM THE VOICE OF A SLAVE 5/22/2012
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM - “FROM THE VOICE OF A SLAVE: THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD IN OHIO” will be presented by Deborah Abbott, PH.D. in conjunction with the Strongsville Historical Society in the OLD TOWN HALL, 18825 Royalton Rd. in Strongsville. Dr. Abbott is a volunteer for the Garfield Park Nature Center in the “Underground Railroad” re-enactment program. This free event will be entertaining and educational for all students and citizens. Memorial Day Parade 5/28/2012
10:45 AM - 12:00 AM - The Memorial Day Parade, sponored by Strongsville VFW Post #3345, will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph & John School parking lot and proceed South to Zverina Drive. The Memorial Ceremony will take place at the Freedom Trail Gazebo from 11:30-11:45 a.m.. Come out and enjoy the parade and show support for our Men and Women of our Armed Forces.
