The Strongsville Police Department's K-9 unit began in 1995 with Piquee and Kessy, both German Shepherds, and was expanded to three K-9s with the addition of Tammy, a Belgian Shepherd, in 2001. Each K-9 is assigned to one of the three shifts; days, afternoon and the night shift. Some of the K-9's duties include narcotic detection, tracking wanted or lost people, article searches, building searches and criminal apprehension. In addition, the K-9 officers/handlers are available to do lectures and demonstrations for many groups such as civic organizations and school functions.
Cash is proud of his seizure in February 2005: 59lbs of marihuana from drug interdiction efforts on I-71. Cash also worked with Medina Twp. this year and found $13,000.00 of suspected drug related money. |
