Service Department responsibilities include: maintenance of all public infrastructures, including road repair and resurfacing, keeping roadways clean of debris, and snow removal. The Service Department is also responsible for the maintenance of all traffic control devices, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, and city parks.
The Service Department maintains the grounds within the Strongsville Cemetery, oversees the sale of cemetery lots, and readies plots for funeral services. The department also maintains computer records of ownership of lots and burial information. Residents and non-residents may purchase lots. A leaf collection program is undertaken every autumn involving city-wide collection of leaves piled on tree lawns and next to roadways. Collection alternates each week between north and south of Royalton Road. Leaf collection begins late in October and generally continues through November each year. For current year schedule please refer to the Keeping Strongsville Green Publication mailed out every spring through the city Arborist or the Leaf Collection page on the website.
Rubbish and recyclable collection is done by Republic Waste, and any questions should be directed to them at 440-572-7590. See Waste Collection for additional information.
Help with sewer and drainage problems is available and may be obtained by calling the Service Department at (440) 580-3170.
An Animal Control Officer is on staff in the Service Department to aid the public with animal problems and complaints. This would include lost and found reports, nuisance complaints and general questions. This service can be obtained by calling (440) 580-3180.
