Service Department

The Strongsville Service Department is responsible for maintaining all public infrastructure, including road repair and resurfacing, snow removal and keeping roadways clear of debris. The department also maintains traffic control devices, storm sewers, sanitary sewers and city parks, and oversees trash collection and recycling.

Trash Collection and Recycling

Collection of rubbish and recyclables is done by Republic Waste. Any questions should be directed to Republic at (440) 572-7590. See the Trash Collection page for additional information.There are several ways to recycle glass, plastics, papers and other items. See the Recycling page for details.

Cemetery

The Service Department oversees the Strongsville Cemetery, 13123 Pearl Rd., maintaining the grounds, selling lots and readying the plots for burial. The department also keeps computer records of lot ownership and burial information. For information on buying a lot, call (440) 580-3186. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Leaf Collection

Every fall, the department removes leaves from residents’ tree lawns through the citywide leaf collection program. For the pickup schedule, see the Leaf Removal page.


Brush and Branch Collection

PLEASE NOTE: CURBSIDE BRUSH CHIPPING IS CURRENTLY SUSPENDED

There are two ways for residents to dispose of brush:
1.      Take brush to the Transfer Station.
2.      Bundle and tie branches in 4-foot lengths and leave out for Republic Waste on your regular trash day. Bundles can weigh no more than 50 pounds each.

Sewers

The Service Department has a crew that maintains all the storm and sanitary sewers in Strongsville, including routine cleaning, inspection and repairs. The department also responds to residents' complaints and concerns about flooding or other sewer issues.

Animal Control

An Animal Control Officer is on staff to aid the public with animal problems, including lost or found pet reports, nuisance complaints and general questions. Snow Removal

The department is responsible for plowing snow from all streets in the 25-square-mile city. For more information, see the Snow Removal page.

Street Repair

The Service Department repairs streets during the spring, summer and fall, including replacing sections of asphalt and concrete, in addition to filling potholes and other road maintenance work.

Traffic Signals


The department is responsible for keeping all the traffic signals in the city in working order.
 

City Parks

The department maintains all of Strongsville's parks, including grass cutting and keeping fields ready for play.

Signs

Service crews maintain, repair and replace street signs throughout Strongsville, and make signs at an in-house shop.
