Fire Academy for Kids Offered

The Strongsville Fire Department will again host its popular Fire Academy for Kids this June, allowing fourth- and fifth-graders who live in Strongsville to get a day-long, up-close look at being a firefighter.
The free program includes classroom training and hands-on activities. A pizza lunch is provided.
The academy runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fire Station No. 4, 17000 Prospect Road.
The program is limited to 20 participants -- 10 on June 6 and 10 on June 7 -- so parents are urged to sign up their children soon. To register, e-mail your child's name and shirt size to fire@strongsville.org.
The department asks that only new "recruits" apply. Parents will be responsible for drop-off and pick-up.
