Kids Fire Academy Drew 72 'Recruits'

The Strongsville Fire Academy for Kids expanded to four days in 2021, with Mayor Perciak swearing in 72 “recruits."
During their day in the Academy, children learned hands-on some of the tasks firefighters may be called upon to perform. From basic first aid and CPR to climbing and ventilating a roof donated by Lowe’s, the kids were given the opportunity to perform many evolutions to see first-hand why and how firefighters do what they do.
Marco’s in Strongsville provided a pizza lunch for all the recruits, who ended the day chilling out with treats from Kona Ice.
Please check back starting the first Monday of April 2022 for next year’s registration. The department asks that only new "recruits" apply. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first served basis.
