Service Dogs Train at Fire Station

Strongsville firefighters again welcomed service dogs in training to Fire Station No. 4 to help get the puppies used to the sights and sounds of an emergency scene.
The puppies, who visited with their trainers on May 20, 2019, are being groomed to act as helper dogs for people with disabilities by Canine Companions for Independence Northern Ohio Chapter. The group has visited the station for the last several years so the puppies-in-training become familiar with firefighters in case their owners are ever in need of emergency help or are in a fire.
At the station, the dogs meet firefighters in full turnout gear, check out the fire trucks, and are exposed to noisy machines like chainsaws and even a smoke-filled room.
