The Strongsville fire and police departments led a ceremony Sept. 11  to remember the death of 2,974 people as a result of terrorist attacksin 2001, including 343 firefighters and 73 members of law enforcement killed in the line of duty.
The remembrance ceremony included the tolling of the bell -- a tradition dating to the time of the telegraph to announce the death of a firefighter -- and the playing of "Taps." Fire Chief Jack Draves and Police Chief Mark Fender both spoke, honoring those killed and urging the public to "never forget."
