Leaves Pile Up This Fall

City of Strongsville crews are picking up an average of 125 cubic yards of leaves from curbsides every day this fall, Service Director Joe Walker said.
As of Nov. 16, 2022, the city had collected 2,024 cubic yards of leaves from residents' lawns.
Unusually dry fall weather led to many trees shedding their leaves within a few days.
Walker said the leaves Service Department crews collect are taken to Smith Brothers in Medina, a landscaping company that recycles them into leaf humus and leaf mulch.
The leaf pile shown below is about one day's collection.
