Life Flight Stops By for Training

Members of Strongsville's fire and police departments learned the ins and outs of Metro Life Flight when a team from MetroHealth Medical Center brought in an emergency rescue helicopter for a training session.

Firefighters, police officers and a dispatcher attended the training to learn more about the capabilities of the chopper and rescue team, which are called in to transport critically injured patients to a trauma center quickly.

Fire Capt. Randy French said the training also focused on the parameters of landing the helicopter in a crowded area, showing  local police officers and firefighters how to choose a spot for landing and how to help the pilot bring the chopper down safely.
