Fire Causes $400,000 Damage to Home

On Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 12:24 a.m., Southwest Emergency Dispatch Center received multiple 911 calls for a house fire at 18444 Heritage Trail.  Callers stated the back of the house was on fire and that all occupants had evacuated the house.

The first Strongsville fire unit arrived on scene at 12:32 a.m. and reported heavy fire in the rear of the house.  Fire crews immediately went into aggressive fire attack mode by deploying several handlines to the rear of the exterior and interior. The fire was brought under control by 1:02 a.m.  Crews spent the next two hours overhauling and extinguishing hot spots.

Strongsville Department of Fire and Emergency Services responded with 16 firefighters on two fire engines, a ladder truck, an ambulance, and several command vehicles.  The Strongsville response was supplemented with mutual aid resources from Brunswick Fire Department, Middleburg Heights Fire Department, and North Royalton Falls Fire Department.

Early loss estimates to the structure and contents are estimated at over $400,000.  The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Southwest Emergency Response Team Fire Investigation Unit and remains undetermined.  There were no injuries to any of the occupants or firefighters.
