Road Salt is Being Rationed

A shortage of road salt in northeast Ohio means Strongsville -- and nearly every other community -- is rationing to make sure main roads are safe.
Streets in subdivisions are not being salted, except for key intersections, leaving the bulk of the city's supply for the main roads.
With no salt available to purchase, most other cities in the area are experiencing the same shortage this month.
Roads in Strongsville's subdivisions will still be plowed. Service Director Joe Walker, who saw the shortage coming, directed plow drivers to stop salting neighborhood streets several weeks ago. Plows will make the streets passable, but, without salt, they will remain snowy and slick. Motorists are asked to drive slowly in the neighborhoods and use extra caution.
Also, please don't park on the street so the plows can do their job.
