Applications Taken to Fill Vacant City Council Seat

Strongsville City Council will take applications to fill the unexpired term created by the resignation of Councilman at Large Joe DeMio, who will leave his council seat to become Clerk of Courts for Berea Municipal Court.
DeMio won elected to the Berea post in the November general election. He had two years left on his City Council term here.
Here is the information on applying for the vacant seat:

The Council of the City of Strongsville will be seeking to fill by appointment of remaining members an anticipated vacancy, due to the expected resignation effective December 31, 2023, of an At-Large Council position for the unexpired term ending December 31, 2025.  In accordance with Article III, Section 3 and Article VII, Section 6 of the Strongsville Charter, each member of Council shall be a qualified elector of the Municipality, and shall have been a resident of the City for one year immediately prior to their appointment.  During the term of office, said person shall continue to be a resident and a qualified elector.  Council members shall not hold any other public office or position over which Council has control within the Municipality other than as a member, officer or trustee of a governmental board or commission, council of governments or publicly supported non-profit institution and except that of Notary Public, or a member of the State Militia, or reserve corps of the United States.  Members of Council also shall not be directly or indirectly interested in the profits or emoluments of any contract, work, or service with or for the Municipality as provided by general law.  City Council holds regular meetings on the first and third Monday evenings of each calendar month except when in recess.  Applicants should submit a resume to the Clerk of Council, 16099 Foltz Parkway, Strongsville, Ohio 44149, or by e-mail at aimee.pientka@strongsville.org no later than December 15, 2023 by 4:30 p.m.  After Council review of all resumes, applicants may be contacted by the Clerk of Council for interviews with Council.  A vacancy on Council must be filled pursuant to the requirements of Article III, Section 8 of the City Charter and Strongsville Codified Ordinances Section 220.09, which are available on the City’s website at www.strongsville.org/government/city-council/codified-records-information.  Council expects to make its appointments in January, 2024.  The City of Strongsville is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
