Firefighter, Police Officer, Dispatcher of the Year Named

Randy French has been named Firefighter of the Year for 2016, Officer Mike Guminey is  Police Officer of the Year and Sheryl Buschman is Dispatcher of the Year.

The awards were presented June 6, 2016 by the St. Francis of Assisi Council of the Kinghts of the Columbus.

French, who handles the Fire Department's public education programs, is "a true professional" who represents the city of Strongsville well, Fire Chief Jack Draves said.

Guminey, who is assigned to handle incidents at SouthPark Mall, is always willing to assist officers with other calls, Police Chief Jim Kobak said.

Buschman received the Knights of Columbus' first-ever dispatcher award for her reliability over her 30-year career. Dispatch Supervisor Jeff Branic said Buschman, who also teaches dispatching, takes pride in her profession and always strives to be the best.
