Sparklers, Fireworks are More Dangerous than You Think

The Strongsville Fire Department is asking residents to refrain from shooting off fireworks to mark special occassions, and to carefully monitor the use of sparklers.
Sparklers burn at 1,200 degrees -- a temperature hot enough to melt glass and cause third-degree burns.
Every year, fireworks spark more than 16,000 fires across the nation. Sparklers account for a quarter of all fireworks-related emergency room visits.
